Welcome to the Hoi P’loy website. Please read this visitors agreement, by which you agree to accept the terms and conditions of this website. As a condition of your use of this website, you warrant to Hoi P’loy that you will not use it for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms, conditions and notices.

This website may alter the terms of this agreement at any given time. By continuing to use the service after we post any such changes, you accept this agreement as modified.

The materials provided on the Hoi P’loy website including all content, information, photographs, illustrations, graphics, names and logos are the property of Hoi P’loy and its licencors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. Materials are for personal, non-commercial use only. The contents of the Hoi P’loy website as described above may not be changed, copied, reproduced, sold, rented, used, supplemented or utilised in any other way without prior written permission from Hoi P’loy.

Returns, Refunds and Cancellations

All returns, exchanges, refunds, order cancellations and claims for goods damaged in transit are governed by our Refund Policy, available at https://hoiploy.com/policies/refund-policy. Where anything in these Terms appears to conflict with the Refund Policy on the subject of returns, refunds, exchanges or transit damage, the Refund Policy applies.

Hoi P’loy Products

Hoi P’loy products have been designed specifically for South Africa’s 220-240 Volt electricity infrastructures and have been thoroughly tested and certified by the International Electrotechnical Commission. Our products conform to South African compulsory specifications which have met health, safety and environmental protection requirement standards. An environmental levy is paid for each and every light bulb that we sell

Hoi P’loy light bulbs are decorative filament light bulbs which are carefully handmade. We pride ourselves in offering the best quality to our customers. While great care is taken to maintain consistency, occasionally the handmade nature of our products result in variations within our product range. By purchasing our products you agree to respect and understand the rare occasion where variations may occur, so long as they are reasonable.

Our products are handmade in our Cape Town workshop. While we maintain rigorous quality standards, the handmade process can result in minor natural variations such as slight colour differences, brass patina, or grain in 3D-printed components. Product photography is professionally edited for clarity and lighting consistency, but always represents the actual product accurately. By purchasing you acknowledge these natural variations are part of the handmade character of our pieces.

In the very few cases, merchandise displayed for sale on our website or in our catalogue may not be available due to stock levels. The prices displayed on our website or in our catalogue are quoted in ZAR (South African Rand) and are valid and effective only in the Republic of South Africa.These prices are VAT inclusive. Prices may be changed at any time without prior notice, and in this case the updated prices will apply regardless of previous purchases.

Payment

Payment on our website is operated by PayFast - a secure, third party online payment service. PayFast is a South African payment gateway that accepts both Visa and Master Card credit cards nationally and internationally. Alternatively, you can send us a direct EFT with a proof of payment or pay via PayPal upon request.

Wholesale & Custom orders

Hoi P’loy currently holds exclusive distribution rights for our range of vintage bulbs and fabric covered cables in South Africa. We are able to accommodate small and large orders for both the retail and wholesale markets. Kindly contact us for further information or to find out more.

 

Warranties

24 MONTH WARRANTY ON COMPONENTS, ACCESSORIES AND LIGHTING PRODUCTS 

WHAT'S COVERED:

FAILURE TO PERFORM- All Hoi P'loy products are tested prior to dispatch, however on rare occasions, faults may become apparent after delivery.

BROKEN OR DAMAGED DURING TRANSIT - Applicable only in South Africa when being transported by Hoi P'loy's courier. Transit-damage claims are handled under our Refund Policy. Please notify us within the period set out there.

QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP/FINISHING - The majority of Hoi P'loy's products are handmade which can sometimes result in varied results. Major imperfections should not be present and are covered under the warranty.

WHAT'S NOT COVERED:

FAILURE TO PERFORM - Improper use, such as but not limited to, incorrect voltage, incorrect installation

BROKEN OR DAMAGED DURING TRANSIT - All international orders, orders being transported by customer’s courier or customer collection.

QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP - The majority of Hoi P’loy products are handmade, as such occasionally minor imperfections may occur.  These are deemed to be acceptable to the process and are not covered.  Oxidation of brass and copper is beyond our control, and customers should expect gradual tarnishing over time.

6 MONTH WARRANTY ON LIGHT BULBS

WHAT'S COVERED:

FAILURE TO PERFORM - All Hoi P’loy bulbs are tested prior to dispatch, however on rare occasions, negligence during transit could erode the integrity of the filament and may reduce the lifespan of the bulb. Notification must be sent within 6 months of receiving the bulb

BROKEN OR DAMAGED DURING TRANSIT - Applicable only when being transported by Hoi P'loy's courier. Transit-damage claims are handled under our Refund Policy. Please notify us within the period set out there.

WHAT'S NOT COVERED:

FAILURE TO PERFORM - Improper use, such as but not limited to, incorrect voltage and incorrect installation.

BROKEN OR DAMAGED DURING TRANSIT -  All international orders. Orders being transported by customer’s own courier or customer collection.
